Caralarga

Caralarga is a textile design and production studio inspired by nature’s raw materials.

Caralarga’s aim is to preserve the raw materials essence and accentuate their qualities by transforming them into high-quality artisanal pieces. Through their designs, they convey the value of hand-crafted work and highlight the natural beauty of each material, believing that simplicity is the source of inspiration.

In 2014, Caralarga began rethinking and exploring waste as a medium to create unique, timeless, and sustainable jewellery and apparel pieces. Utilizing resources such as raw cotton threads and textile waste discarded for minor production errors, their creative evolution led them to discover other natural materials like fibre from the sansevieria plant and recycled bull horn. Their studio of artisans are custodians of ancient techniques and the protection of nature.

Caralarga’s large and medium format works are a natural development of their initial work with textile jewellery. They ventured into creating larger, more complex pieces, finding a new way of working with raw cotton and hand braiding, culminating in interior decor pieces that transform spaces with timeless designs highlighting the beauty of the raw materials.

What began as a small studio making textile jewellery with a team of two, has over seven years, expanded, resulting in the large and medium format pieces we admire today. This growth occurred under a creative direction in collaboration with artisans and designers who perfected each technique used in the final designs.

Each Caralarga piece represents a cultural and creative background built in community. Their work is a small fraction of the journey they have undertaken as a textile studio.

They take great pride in the creativity and craftsmanship of their talented artisans, standing as a defender of originality and having respect for the creativity of others.
