MITLA L
Inspired by one of the patterns found in the mosaics of the archaeological site of San Pablo Villa de Mitla, Oaxaca, also known as Mictlán or “place of rest” for the dead (Lyobaa, in Zapotec).
This piece is a tribute to the architecture, city, cosmogony, and Zapotec culture.
Through our handmade methods and techniques, we capture a sequence of stepped fretwork, creating a tapestry full of history, a tribute to one of the most important and beautiful monuments of pre-Hispanic Mexico.
