Isthmus Sconce

An isthmus is a narrow piece of land connecting two larger areas across an expanse of water. This delicate separation is the spirit of the Isthmus series.

The cast glass lens of the Isthmus Sconce is cradled by a monumental cast bronze encasement. The form is wrapped in a likeness of both the outside and inside surface of an armadillo’s armor through moulding techniques. An upward band of light illuminates the wall from behind.
