Born in 1979 in Amsterdam, Eelco Hilgersom has nurtured a lifelong fascination with the captivating architecture and structures found in nature. From a young age, his insatiable desire to build and create has fuelled his artistic journey, inspiring him to craft abstract works based on the organic forms and organisms he admires. 

While being a contemporary artist is his true calling, Eelco is also an accomplished designer, having pursued various graphic studies and courses. With years of experience working in prominent design studios, his passion for being a contemporary artist permeates his being. He finds immense satisfaction in transforming his ideas into tangible artworks, knowing that his creations will inspire and bring joy to others.

In all of his works, Eelco seeks to explore contrasts in form, colour, and material. By carefully juxtaposing elements, he aims to captivate viewers and draw them into the intricate complexities of each piece. His latest series, Habitat, is inspired by organisms' intricate communication systems. Eelco skillfully blends and portrays the varied structures and colours of these organisms in an abstract manner. Through organic shapes, vibrant hues, and reflective surfaces, a new kind of creature emerges, showcasing its inherent beauty and evoking a sense of emotion.
