Jonathan Prince

"Creativity is a foundational element of my life and spiritual practice. I explore the ideas that I’m investigating and look for ways to convert them to form."

Jonathan Prince, an artist whose sculptural work intricately weaves together the realms of science, technology, and spirituality, has established himself as a significant figure in the contemporary art world.

Born in New York City, Prince has spent the last two decades living and working in The Berkshires of Massachusetts, where his fascination with sculpture began at a young age, notably influenced by his encounters with cubist sculptor Jacques Lipchitz. Despite initially pursuing a career as a maxillofacial surgeon, Prince’s enduring passion for sculpture led him to rekindle his artistic pursuits in 2002, culminating in the creation of a world-class fabrication facility in The Berkshires.

Prince’s sculptural practice is characterized by a profound exploration of material and form, where the tension between precision and imperfection mirrors the dualities inherent in life. His works, often monumental in scale, are not only visually striking but also imbued with a sense of inquiry and introspection, inviting viewers to reflect on the complex interplay between vulnerability and strength, chaos and beauty.

Prince’s sculptures, which find their place in both private and public collections worldwide, stand as testaments to his mastery of form and his profound engagement with the materials he shapes.

Jonathan Prince’s journey from a precocious teenager apprenticing under a renowned sculptor to a visionary artist at the helm of his own creative enterprise  encapsulates a life dedicated to the exploration and expression of the intrinsic beauty found within the interstices of science, technology, and spirituality.

His work, marked by a relentless pursuit of understanding through the lens of art, continues to inspire and provoke, inviting us to consider the depths of our own perceptions and the infinite possibilities that arise from embracing the complexities of the world around us.
